The Future

Although our data suggests that quarantine has reduced carbon emissions, we are aware that as restrictions are lifted and businesses reopen, we will be faced with increased carbon emissions again. We think it’s important to keep these emissions low, and we are planning on continuing to track these emissions to keep people informed.

What YOU can do to keep emissions low:

Sandwich

Eat less meat! This will reduce methane emitted (CH4).

Car

Quarantine has us all walking and biking a lot… keep this up! Only take the car if it’s really necessary.

Use less energy by unplugging devices and turning off lights when you exit a room.

Recycle! Landfills are a huge contributor to carbon emissions.

Watercolor Cucumber

Eat more local, seasonal plants! This will reduce carbon emissions from overseas and transcontinental transport of food.

Once quarantine is lifted, we hope you continue to keep in mind some of the pollution-reducing tendencies that have led to such significant results. As we analyze CO and CO2 levels going forward, we are committed to continue to raise awareness about these harmful emissions and our potential to reduce them. We are optimistic that the downward trend can continue in the future -- we all want our old, restriction-free lives back, but we can apply what we have learned during this pandemic to ensure that a return to normalcy does not come at the expense of our planet.
